Here I am at my second home in beautiful Taos, New Mexico. While it's 104* in Houston, it's a nice 75 here. First of all, let me say I am very sad about Michael Jackson. Taos is a small town in northern New Mexico, 8,000 people and over 50 good restaurants. Tonight we went to a great Japanese restaurant called Hiro Hobo. They describe themselves as a cafe based on the popular Japanese Izakaya style which translates to a pub or drinking place where food is served in the small plate or tapas tradition. They were playing Off the Wall and Thriller while we ate. We started with Sesame Spinach which was sauteed with ginger, garlic and sesame seeds and was delicious and I would give it an SM. Ahi and Avocado bricks - chunks of ahi tuna and avocado dressed with lemon, sesame and soy and served with crisp rice paper. Another SM. I have to say the next dish was the finest, a Banzai Beef Slider- ground beef patty on toasted bun with blue cheese and tempura green chile. and Salmon Ponzu- wild caught salmon with sticky rice. Double SM. Everything was great and to finish it off, fresh nectarine pie. I would highly recommend Hiro Hobo. Stay tuned for more great restaurants in Taos.
